Conference Day 1

Thursday, April 27th 2023

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Description

Learn about efforts by the MAP Cohort of over 70 CCCs and 5 CSU campuses to offer and award degree applicable and transferable CPL. Colleges are flipping the petition process by offering CPL for various occupations and certifications—saving up to a year of benefits while increasing equitable access, retention, and completion (+17%) leading to successful transfer and career attainment.

Participants will be briefed on the status of the project and plans to continue scaling statewide to all 116 CCCs and beyond. Background information will be provided in the form of a white paper. The presentation will focus on newly developed training, technology, procedures, and services available to support colleges as they begin to award credit for prior learning to Service members, veterans, and adult learners. Discussion will address the collaboration between A&R (matching articulations, evaluations, and transcribing); Counseling (education planning), Faculty (reviewers, approvers), and AOs (degree and transfer considerations). The team will also provide a demonstration of MAP processes, including: CPL Search Tool; Veteran Intake Process; Articulation Creation and Approval Process; Student CPL Plan; Articulation Adoption Process; and CPL Process for Adult Re-Entry Learners.
